Bethany Uncovers Their Secret

A quiet house. Two whispered voices. One woman about to learn the truth that destroys everything she thought was real.

INT. LIVING ROOM – NIGHT

A heavy silence presses against the room. The soft HUM of the TV flickers against the walls.

BETHANY
(stepping into the doorway, uneasy)
Something’s off…

She sees LARRY and BROOKE huddled close on the couch, whispering. They jolt when she enters.

LARRY
(measured, rehearsed)
Bethany… we need to talk.

BETHANY
(crossing her arms)
About what?

A thick tension settles. Brooke glances nervously at Larry.

BROOKE
soft, hesitant
It’s… it’s about tomorrow. About where we’re going.

Bethany’s chest tightens. The room seems to shrink.

BETHANY
Go on.

Larry swallows, avoiding her eyes.

LARRY
We’re… we’re not coming back for you, Bethany.
We’re staying at Sharra’s place. For a while.

Bethany freezes, breath caught in her throat. Her world blurs.

BETHANY
(whispering, shaken)
You’re joking.

Brooke looks down, voice trembling.

BROOKE
We’re not. It’s better this way… for everyone.

Bethany’s hands tremble, the betrayal hitting like a tidal wave.

BETHANY
Better? For who? You two? Sharra?
And what about me?

Larry shifts, guilt heavy in his posture.

LARRY
We just thought it would be easier if we—

BETHANY
(snapping, voice cracking)
Easier?! You mean you’re abandoning me!

Brooke flinches. Larry tries to speak, but Bethany steamrolls him.

Memories flash through her mind—late nights waiting, worrying, defending them. All of it suddenly meaningless.

BETHANY
(taking a step back)
I trusted you. Both of you.
I thought we were a team.

Brooke’s eyes brim with tears.

BROOKE
Bethany, please… it’s complicated.

BETHANY
Complicated?!
You lied to me. I was blind, but not anymore.

Larry rises, reaching out.

LARRY
Bethany—

She recoils like his touch burns.

BETHANY
Don’t.
Just… leave me alone.

She paces, heart pounding, rage rising like wildfire.

The room feels suffocating. The betrayal suffocating.

Her phone BUZZES on the table.
A message from Sharra appears: “See you tomorrow 😏.”

Bethany’s jaw tightens. A spark ignites.

She turns back to them, gaze ice-cold.

BETHANY
slow, deadly calm
You need to understand something.
You made a choice.
And choices… have consequences.

Larry opens his mouth. Brooke shakes her head. Bethany ignores them.

She walks toward the hallway, every step steady and final.

EXT. HOUSE – NIGHT

The street is still, mocking in its calmness.
Bethany stands in the doorway, a storm swirling behind her eyes.

BETHANY
(whispering to herself)
You’ll regret leaving me behind.
I promise you that.

She disappears into the night.

A storm rises.

Fade out.
