Delicia’s Smile, Shayla’s Blind Spot
Last night’s party wasn’t just a party; it was a battlefield wrapped in glitter and fake smiles. Music was loud, people were laughing, glasses were clinking—but underneath it all, a secret was waiting to explode. And in the middle of it stood Shayla… soft, clueless, hopeful. The only one in the entire house who didn’t know she was being played.
1. The Party of Pretend
Shayla entered the living room like a girl finally breathing again. After days of tension and confusion, she felt almost… comforted.
Everyone seemed calm, everyone was smiling—especially Delicia.
To Shayla, that smile meant support.
To everyone else, that smile meant danger.
Shayla walked toward Iman and Delicia. Iman looked nervous, eyes flicking between the two women like he was watching a bomb timer count down. Delicia, however, stood tall, lips pursed, eyes sharp.
Shayla didn’t notice any of it.
She only noticed warmth.
“Delicia, thank you for standing up for me earlier,” Shayla said softly.
Delicia blinked, surprised. Then she flashed a perfect, fake smile.
“Of course, girl… anything for you,” she replied—while staring straight at Iman like she owned him.
Across the room, people nudged one another, whispering, laughing quietly behind their drinks.
Shayla had no idea she was the joke of the night.
2. The Woman Watching Too Closely
Delicia stayed close to Iman—too close.
Every time Shayla moved toward him, Delicia shifted her position.
Every time Shayla spoke to him, Delicia’s jaw tightened.
Every time Shayla so much as smiled at him, Delicia’s eyes flickered with jealousy.
But Shayla saw none of it.
She genuinely believed Delicia was defending her from Iman earlier—when in reality Delicia was defending her claim on him.
Iman tried to create distance, but Shayla kept following.
“I just want to talk to you for a second,” Shayla whispered.
Iman sighed, “Shayla… not right now.”
Shayla nodded like she understood him deeply.
Delicia laughed under her breath.
People watching nearly choked trying not to laugh out loud.
3. The Moment Everyone Saw—Except Her
Shayla reached out to pass Iman a drink.
Delicia slapped her hand away lightly but sharply.
“Let me handle him,” Delicia said sweetly—but with poison underneath.
Shayla blinked, confused.
“Oh… okay. You’re really looking out for me tonight.”
Delicia smiled, “Always.”
Behind them, someone whispered:
“She doesn’t even know Delicia is guarding her own man.”
Another replied:
“She’s so innocent tonight it’s almost painful.”
Even Natasha in the corner raised her eyebrow like she was mentally filing courtroom evidence.
But the worst part?
Shayla still thought they were laughing with her… not at her.
4. The Only Person Who Would Have Told Her
Anthony.
If there was one person who would have walked into the party, hugged Shayla, and told her the truth straight up—it was him.
He would have said it without blinking:
“Shayla… Delicia is Iman’s new girlfriend. Stop trusting her.”
But Anthony never came.
Because Amber didn’t let him.
Back at their house, Amber leaned in the doorway, blocking him from leaving, arms crossed, glare sharp enough to slice glass.
“You’re not going to that party, Anthony,” she snapped.
“Shayla needs me—”
“Shayla will survive one night without you.”
Anthony clenched his fists.
He knew Shayla wouldn’t survive the truth being delayed.
But Amber stood her ground until he finally sat down on the couch in defeat.
And so, back at the party, Shayla was left alone—no real friend, no warning, no protection.
Just Delicia’s eyes watching her like a hawk… and Iman shrinking under the pressure of two women he didn’t want to confront.
5. The Night Cracks Open
As the night dragged on, Shayla became quieter.
Her smiles started fading.
Her laughter came slower.
She began to notice things she had ignored for hours.
Delicia leaning into Iman.
Iman lowering his voice only when he spoke to Delicia.
The quick touches… the small smiles… the tension that wasn’t for her.
And the room watching—always watching.
Shayla finally whispered:
“Why does everyone keep looking at us?”
Iman swallowed hard.
“Shayla, listen… we need to talk.”
Delicia stepped closer.
“No, I think we all need to talk.”
For the first time that night, Shayla’s expression dropped.
Confusion slowly shifted into realization…
Realization into fear.
A sudden silence fell across the room.
Even the music seemed to fade.
Someone in the back whispered:
“Oh… it’s happening.”
Shayla looked between Iman and Delicia.
Her voice small, trembling:
“What’s going on…?”
Iman opened his mouth—
Delicia tightened her jaw—
And before either of them could speak…
The front door unlocked.
Everyone froze.
A familiar voice echoed inside:
“WHAT in the world is going on in my house?”
Wayne had arrived.
And he heard just enough to know something was terribly wrong.
