Just as Larry was about to leave for Montana, Bethany suddenly fell down the stairs, leaving Larry’s dream of going to Montana unfinished

Larry & Bethany – Montana Interrupted
Larry’s dream of Montana is abruptly interrupted when Bethany falls down the stairs, revealing a possible lurking danger in their home and forcing priorities to shift.

THE FALL

The air was thick, suffocating. Larry stood by the front door, bag on shoulder, Montana ticket in hand, heart pounding. Suddenly—Bethany’s voice from upstairs shattered the moment.

BETHANY: Larry! Wait a second!

He froze, irritation and worry mingling. Silence… then a sharp, panicked scream.

LARRY: Bethany!

He ran to the staircase. Bethany lay sprawled, clutching her leg, eyes wide in shock and pain.

LARRY: Oh my God! Are you okay?!

BETHANY: I… I think I twisted my ankle…

DREAMS PUT ON HOLD

Larry’s Montana trip evaporated. Panic and guilt rooted him to the spot. He reached for his phone, hesitated, noticing Bethany’s fearful eyes.

LARRY: Bethany, did someone push you?

BETHANY: No… I… I just… slipped.

He helped her up slowly, supporting her weight. Every step was painful, yet a strange unease lingered.

BETHANY: Larry… you… you don’t have to go.

LARRY: I can’t just leave, Bethany. Montana isn’t just a trip—it’s everything I’ve been working for.

UNINVITED SHADOWS

A sudden noise from the kitchen made them jump. Larry’s muscles tensed. Step by cautious step, he approached, seeing a fleeting shadow dart toward the back door.

LARRY: Hey!

He ran to the door, but the intruder vanished. The Montana trip felt meaningless compared to the unknown danger.

BETHANY: Larry… maybe we should call the police.

Larry nodded, phone in hand. His dream of Montana felt distant, suspended in adrenaline-fueled uncertainty.

PRIORITY: SAFETY

While waiting for the police, Larry helped Bethany to the couch. Her ankle was painful, but not broken. Fear lingered in her eyes.

BETHANY: I… I don’t want you to go now.

LARRY: I know… but Montana… it’s important to me. I’ve been planning it for so long.

BETHANY: I can’t shake the feeling that something bad is coming. Ever since I tripped… I feel like we’re not alone.

Larry’s gaze shifted to the empty hallway, shadows dancing in the dim light. He felt it too—an invisible tension, a subtle threat lingering in corners.

REFLECTION AND RESOLVE

The police arrived. No intruder, no forced entry. Yet Larry sensed the presence hadn’t truly left. Bethany’s fall had saved them from leaving—and perhaps from something far worse.

Larry helped Bethany upstairs to rest. The Montana ticket lay untouched, a symbol of paused ambition.

That night, Larry sat by the window, watching the wind howl through the trees. Shadows lingered. Uncertainty lingered. But one thing was clear—Montana could wait… safety and presence mattered most.

BETHANY (murmuring softly): Maybe some dreams are meant to wait… until the time is right.

Larry nodded silently. Perhaps she was right. Perhaps Montana would come—and perhaps it wouldn’t. But he would never take the people he loved for granted again.
