Argument Before The Trip
The living room is filled with tension. Suitcases are packed. Bethany holds the flight tickets tightly in her hand while Larry stands across the room, clearly irritated.
BETHANY: Everything is ready, Larry. The flight leaves tonight. We should start heading to the airport.
LARRY: No. We’re not going anywhere yet.
Bethany looks confused, not understanding his sudden change of tone.
BETHANY: What do you mean? Destiny’s birthday party is in Miami. We planned this trip weeks ago.
LARRY: Plans change.
The Tension Grows
Bethany crosses her arms angrily.
BETHANY: You can’t cancel everything at the last minute.
LARRY: I’m not canceling the trip.
BETHANY: Then what exactly are you saying?
LARRY: I’m saying you’re not coming with us.
The room suddenly falls silent.
Bethany stares at him in disbelief.
Bethany’s Shock
BETHANY: Excuse me?
LARRY: You heard me. You’re staying here.
Bethany laughs sarcastically.
BETHANY: You must be joking.
LARRY: I’m not joking.
Bethany lifts the tickets slightly in the air.
BETHANY: Then what are these tickets for?
The Shocking Moment
Without warning, Larry walks forward and snatches the flight tickets from Bethany’s hand.
BETHANY: Larry! What are you doing?
Larry looks at the tickets for a second.
Then suddenly… he tears them apart.
The ripping sound echoes in the room as pieces of paper fall to the floor.
LARRY: You’re not going anywhere.
Humiliation and Rage
Bethany’s face turns red with anger and humiliation.
BETHANY: Are you insane?!
LARRY: No. I’m done with your drama.
BETHANY: You had no right to do that!
LARRY: I had every right.
Bethany looks at the torn ticket pieces lying on the floor.
Her hands begin to shake with anger.
The Warning
BETHANY: You think humiliating me will fix everything?
LARRY: I think leaving you here will keep the peace.
BETHANY: You’re making a huge mistake, Larry.
Larry doesn’t respond.
Bethany slowly bends down and picks up one torn piece of the ticket.
BETHANY: You just started something you won’t be able to stop.
Larry watches her silently as the tension in the room becomes unbearable.
