Chapter 1: The Calm Before the Storm
It started like any normal evening… quiet, calm, and almost too peaceful.
Bethany was sitting on the couch, scrolling through her phone, while Larry stood in the kitchen making coffee. The soft hum of the house made everything feel safe.
But within seconds… everything changed.
“Larry…” Bethany’s voice trembled.
He turned around instantly. Something wasn’t right.
Her face had gone pale. Her hands were shaking. Before he could even reach her—she suddenly clutched her chest and gasped for air.
“Bethany! What’s happening?!” Larry shouted, rushing toward her.
“I… I can’t breathe…” she whispered, her voice barely audible.
Chapter 2: Panic Takes Over
Panic hit Larry like a storm.
His hands trembled as he tried to hold her steady, but Bethany’s body was getting weaker by the second. Her head dropped against his shoulder.
“No, no, no… stay with me!” he cried.
Without wasting a second, Larry grabbed his keys and lifted Bethany into his arms. He didn’t even lock the door.
Nothing mattered except saving her.
Chapter 3: The Nightmare Drive
The drive to the hospital felt like a nightmare.
Larry sped through traffic, his heart pounding louder than the engine. He kept glancing at Bethany, who was barely conscious now.
“Talk to me, Bethany… please… don’t close your eyes,” he begged.
But she didn’t respond.
Tears filled his eyes as fear took over his mind.
“What if I’m too late…?”
Chapter 4: Life and Death Moments
The moment he reached the hospital, Larry jumped out of the car and screamed for help.
“Somebody help! Please!”
Doctors and nurses rushed out with a stretcher. Within seconds, Bethany was taken from his arms and wheeled inside.
“Sir, you need to stay here,” a nurse said firmly.
Larry stood frozen.
Watching the doors close in front of him felt like his world was shutting down.
Chapter 5: Waiting in Fear
Minutes felt like hours.
He paced back and forth, his hands on his head, unable to think straight. Every possible fear ran through his mind.
“Why didn’t I notice earlier…? She said she felt tired… I should’ve known…”
His voice broke.
Chapter 6: The Doctor’s Words
Finally… after what felt like forever, a doctor walked out.
Larry rushed toward him.
“Doctor! How is she? Is she okay?!”
The doctor’s face was serious.
“We’re doing everything we can… but her condition was critical when she arrived.”
Larry’s heart dropped.
“What do you mean ‘was’…?” he whispered.
The doctor paused.
“She’s stable for now… but the next few hours are very important.”
Chapter 7: The Silent Prayer
Larry couldn’t breathe.
Stable… but not safe.
He slowly sat down, his hands shaking, eyes filled with tears.
“I almost lost her…” he murmured.
Through the glass window, he saw Bethany lying unconscious, surrounded by machines.
For the first time in his life… Larry felt completely helpless.
He pressed his hand against the glass.
“Please fight… Bethany… please…”
And in that silent hospital room… the battle for her life had just begun. π°π
