BETHANY IN HANDCUFFS
Red and blue lights flash violently across Bethany’s pale face. Neighbors peek through curtains.
OFFICER MARTINEZ: Bethany Lynette, you are under arrest for financial conspiracy.
BETHANY: No… this can’t be happening. I didn’t do anything!
Cold metal cuffs lock around her wrists. The sound echoes louder than the siren.
LARRY GETS THE CALL
Larry’s office door slams shut. His phone trembles in his hand.
LARRY: Arrested? That’s impossible. You’ve got the wrong person.
Sweat beads on his forehead. His silence says more than his denial ever could.
THE INTERROGATION
Dim lights. A metal table. A thick folder lands in front of Bethany.
DETECTIVE RICHARDS: Your signature appears on every transfer.
BETHANY: That’s not fraud. Larry handled our finances!
Photos. Bank statements. Fake accounts. Each page hits like a hammer.
DETECTIVE RICHARDS: He didn’t just use the company’s name… he used yours.
FACE TO FACE
Larry steps into the interrogation room. His confident posture is gone.
BETHANY: Tell me this is a lie.
LARRY: I was trying to protect us.
Bethany’s breathing becomes uneven. Her world tilts.
BETHANY: You protected yourself.
THE CONFESSION
Silence. Heavy. Suffocating.
LARRY: It started small. I thought I could fix it before anyone noticed.
BETHANY: So you used my name as insurance?
Tears roll down her cheeks — not from fear, but from realization.
BETHANY: I defended you. I trusted you.
JUSTICE SERVED
The door bursts open. Officers step inside.
OFFICER MARTINEZ: Larry Hayes, you’re under arrest for fraud and identity falsification.
This time, the handcuffs aren’t for her.
Larry looks at Bethany — pleading. She doesn’t move.
BETHANY: I choose myself.
Bethany removes her engagement ring and places it on the cold metal table. The sirens fade into the night… but the real war has only just begun.
